A Path Forward: Justice-Involved Care Life Coach Certificate is an innovative, online certificate program geared toward aspiring life-coaches interested in working with justice-involved individuals to advance social justice, health equity, and public health. Students will train on methods to reduce recidivism, encourage rehabilitation, restoration, and transformation of justice-involved individuals.

What is 鈥淛ustice-Involved鈥�? Simply put 鈥渏ustice-involved鈥� is anyone that has interacted
or been impacted by the criminal justice system.

What Is a Justice-Involved Life Coach?
A 鈥淛ustice Involved Life Coach鈥� is an individual who addresses the issues encountered by justice involved individuals by evaluating and assesing the complex barriers of a returning citizen. These coaches are compassionate leaders that have a rewarding opportunity to connect with some of the brightest minds, transforming cognitive behaviors to positive outcomes.
What Is the Justice-Involved Life Coach Certificate Program?
Justice-Involved Care (JIC) is a 4-month online certificate program that seeks to enhance the skills of individuals currently working or aspiring to work with justice-involved individuals by offering online development courses geared toward mitigating the barriers encountered by justice-involved individuals returning citizens.
Modules include:
- Overview of U.S. Justice System: The Social Determinants of Reentry
- Is there a Problem: The Importance of Data Collection
- Connecting the Dots: Decreasing Recidivism Barriers
- Accessing Behavioral Health Services: Promoting Mental Health Equity, Substance Abuse, and Trauma.
- Culiminating Project: Face to Face interview with returning citizens, professional correctional personnel, and community service providers.
Students will:
- Gain deeper insights into United States prison history and rehabilitation efforts
- Understand the importance of data collection to improve care
- Learn how to assist justice-involved individuals with navigating through complex systems
- Identify and address key contributors to reducing justice-involved recidivism
*See below for Bridge to Justice Pipeline option for coaches who possess a bachelor鈥檚 degree.At the end of successfully completing all course requirements, participants will complete a course evaluation, attend graduation ceremony and receive a Certificate of Completion.

- Improving ones knowledge of the criminal justice system and its societal impact.
- Attaining a skillset that enables an individual to advocate for laws and policies that reduce recidivism.
- Conceptualizing the significance of justice health by addressing adequate health care concerns during pre/post-release.

Application Requirements:
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria by the application deadline:
- MacBook or PC and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- High School diploma, Associates degree preferred.
- Completed application
- One recommendation form required - Letters of recommendation are optional.
- Copy of resume
- Completed essay (no more than 1 page) explaining why you are interested in the 鈥淎 Path Foward: Justice-Involved Life Coach鈥� and why you would benefit from this program.
鈥淎 Path Forward鈥�: Life Coach to MAJIC Options
As a part of the Pathway Forward Coaching Certificate, the Office of Online Education and Expanded Programs offers participants who have a bachelor鈥檚 degree and successfully complete this 4-month certificate program are given the opportunity to enter the *Master of Administration in Justice-Involved Care (MAJIC) degree program, along with a scholarship amount as determined by the program.
鈥淏ridge to Justice鈥� Pipeline Application Requirments: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria by the application deadline:
- MacBook or PC and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- High School diploma, Associates degree preferred.
- One recommendation form required - Letters of recommendation are optional.
- Completed application
- Official transcripts must be submitted when applying through the Pipeline Program for the Master of Administration in Justice- Involved Care Degree
- Completed essay (no more than 1 page) explaining why you are interested in the 鈥淏ridge to Justice鈥� Pipeline and why
